Calling All Children and Tots for an Art Workshop Winning T-shirt Design Contest at The Gardens Mall

T-Shirt Design & Coloring Workshop
Saturday, October 23, 1 – 3 p.m.
Palm Beach Gardens, FL – October 15, 2010 – A premier sponsor of the Susan G. Komen South Florida Race for the Cure®, The Gardens Mall is pleased to present a “Kids for the Cure Art Workshop” from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. in the Nordstrom Court on October 23. The Kids for the Cure® sponsor, the Jupiter Medical Center, and Tots for the Cure® sponsor, Wellington Regional, will collaborate in celebrating this kickoff event for children and families county-wide.
The Kids for the Cure Art Workshop will be set up for children to participate in a T-shirt design competition for the best T-shirt design to be used in the Kids’ Races at the Komen South Florida Race for the Cure® in January. Crayons, colored pencils, and a T-shirt template will all be provided, along with pink lemonade and cotton candy. Sanrio store character, Hello-Kitty, and Bearemy®, from the Build-A-Bear Workshop, will be on hand at this free event.
The entry form T- shirt design can be downloaded at www.thegardensmall.com, or picked up at the mall information booth, and various children stores throughout the mall. Children can deposit their completed T-shirt design into a pink treasure chest located in the Nordstrom Court from October 18 through October 29.
Winning contestants will be announced at the Komen for the Cure® Kids’ Fashion Show on November 13, and awarded gift cards by The Gardens Mall. The winning T-shirt designs will be seen by thousands at the Komen South Florida Race for the Cure® on January 29, 2011.
The diagnosis of cancer affects more than just the patient. For every woman or man diagnosed with breast cancer, there are often children involved who are also affected by the diagnosis - the patient's children, grandchildren, nieces/nephews, neighbors, friends and others. These children should not feel alone and powerless against the disease. Kids for the Cure® Art Workshop is a fun, creative event where children realize that they can make a difference by becoming part of the Cure.
