Kids’ Grand Opening Day Kicks Off with Competitions

Palm Beach Gardens, Fla. – The Gardens Mall will soon transform from a luxury shopper’s paradise to a hot spot for kids (and adults) with big imaginations. From April 28 to May 15, LEGO Takeover! at The Gardens Mall will showcase nearly 50 life-sized LEGO models and plenty of interactive exhibits to entertain fans of all ages.

Saturday, April 29 is the official Kids’ Grand Opening Day. Children of all ages can come and be a part of LEGO Takeover! There will be two competitions in which children can participate, thanks to the partnership with Bricks 4 Kidz. Each individual competition will be divided into age groups.

The first competition is timed and will take place in the Grand Court. Participants will have 30 minutes to build their own creation that centers around the theme: “Things to do in Palm Beach County.” The LEGO bricks will be provided by Bricks 4 Kidz. All you need to bring is your imagination. The competition starts at 2 p.m. Winners will be announced at 3 p.m.

The same theme applies to the second competition, which allows participants to build at home, then bring their creations to the mall’s Grand Court. Participants can compete on their own or as part of a team. Parents are allowed to compete on teams with their children as well. Pre-constructed entries must be put on a 10-inch by 10-inch baseplate and brought to the Grand Court from 2 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. Winners will be announced at 5 p.m.

Judges in both competitions will choose an individual and team winner in each age group.

Registration for both can be found at: https://my.bricks4kidz.com/index.php?action=location&location=63.

If you can’t be a part of the competitions – don’t worry. There will be plenty more opportunities to build and create during LEGO Takeover! at The Gardens Mall. In Nordstrom Court, visitors can make a race car out of LEGO bricks, then watch it compete against other creations on the LEGO Race Ramps. Guests can even make their own works of art to go on display in the LEGO Art Gallery. It’s all up to you! If you’re not building, you’ll be exploring.
